The SEA CARYATIS has become the first Greek-owned commercial vessel to be registered under the Luxembourg flag.

The SEA CARYATIS, a RoRo vessel built in 1999 with a deadweight of 9,729 DWT, operated by Mediterranean Car-Carriers Line S.A. (MCCL), has become the first Greek-owned commercial vessel to be registered under the Luxembourg flag.

Founded in 1995 by George Kavadas, MCCL specialises exclusively in the sea transportation of vehicles and rolling materials.

A spokesperson for MCCL stated: 'We are honoured to be the first Greek operator to register a vessel under the Luxembourg flag. The process was exceptionally smooth and professional, and we were impressed by the Luxembourg Maritime Administration's responsiveness and Stanley Maritime Luxembourg's dedication.”

You will find the official press release from Stanley Maritime Luxembourg and MCCL below, along with a film of the Sea Caryatis' registration ceremony provided by MCCL. (Click on picture below to download)

It is noteworthy that this development represents a return to the vessel's origins, as it had previously sailed under the Luxembourg flag from 26 February 1999 until 22 December 2015 under the name Valentine.
